Pink Shirt Day

Bullying is a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes, and over the Internet. On Wednesday February 29, 2012 the Okanagan Boys & Girls Clubs will be helping to raise awareness of these issues with the promotion of PINK SHIRT DAY.

Pink Shirt Day 2012 will once again be an opportunity to increase public awareness in the Okanagan, and to demonstrate that we are all a part of the solution and won't tolerate bullying any longer. The Okanagan Boys & girls Clubs will be joining this National movement for the fourth year in our valley, and together in partnership with our schools, families and with other community partners working to create an environment of respect year round to make our Clubs, Schools & Streets safer.

Purchase your new 2012 designed Pink T-shirt and wear it to work, school and out in the community to make your statement. All proceeds from T-shirts sold will help support anti-bullying initiatives throughout the year withing theOkanagan Boys & Girls Clubs.

T-shirt orders are due by Friday, January 27th, 2012. Order early to guarantee your sizes and quantities. Click Here for the T-shirt order form.

"Pink Shirt Day" originated in Nova Scotia where two young men stood up to bullying in their High School. A student was being bullied and was harassed even more when he showed up at school wearing a pink shirt. In support, these two young men went to a discount store and purchased 50 pink t-shirts. They enlisted fellow students to wear the pink shirts to support the student who was being bullied.
