Gas shed destroyed by fire at Shelter Bay Marina

8/8/2012

An early morning fire at Shelter Bay Marina in West Kelowna is out.

The blaze broke out at the gas dock shortly after 5am.

Big White Ski Resorts, Michael J Ballingall keeps his boat at the marina and says crews worked quickly.

"There's a lot of boats around it, within 10 feet and they don't look to be damaged. It looks like it was just the infrastructure and it's truly out."

At one point, black smoke could be seen from the area with 30 foot flames shooting into the sky.

Ballingall says the gas shed is destroyed, however the gas barge remains intact.
