Hard luck scam making its rounds

8/17/2012

The RCMP are warning about a scam making it's rounds in Kelowna.

The hard-luck hoax has a man approaching a victim expressing that he is having car trouble and needs a tow.

At least three people are involved in the scam, with one dresses up with a hard hat and jumper cables.

In some cases the suspect has offered to exchange a 100 dollar American bill for 40 dollars Canadian. The exchange is never made but the suspect snags the  money and runs away.

The RCMP are warning the public to be aware of this scam.
