Penticton Indian Band Hold Chief Nomination Meeting

An election date has been set to elect a Chief for the Penticton Indian Band.

A nomination meeting was held last night and six candidates were nominated for the position which will be a four year term.

Those in the running are Incumbent Chief Jonathan Kruger, current Band Councillors Joseph Pierre and Laurie Wilson, Joe Johnson, teacher Arnold Baptiste and Lavern Jack.

An all candidates forum will be held on October 17th at the Band Community Hall starting at 7:00 PM.

The election dates is scheduled for October 24th at the Penticton Band Community Hall from 8:00 Am until 8:00 PM.

Advanced polls will be available on October 20th from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

The current election system will allow for mail in ballots for those eligible band member voters who live off reserve.
