Smile Cookie Builds Park

10/15/2012

The South Okanagan Children's Charity will be getting a boost thanks to the fundraising efforts made by Tim Hortons.

This year's smile cookie campaign has raised $11,230 which is more than the previous year as Brianna Symchuk from Tim Hortons explains.

"Last year we raised just over $9,000 so compared to this year we're over $11,000 that's a huge improvement from last year. We're going to be doing the program every year and we hope to keep on improving."

Symchuk says with this being just the second year of the fundraiser they are please to see the community so involved.

"This year has been amazing we've seen so much support from everybody in the community. This year getting a bit more money was really, really a great help. We're really excited with everybody's contributions."

The entire proceeds from this year's fundraiser will go towards building Discovery Park near Skaha Lake.

Nationally Tim Hortons raised $4,206,550 in the month of September.

Last year smile cookies raised $3,687,072 in September 2011.
