United Way Breakfast Raises over $7,900

10/19/2012

Penticton's first United Way Drive Through Breakfast was a huge success according to organizers.

Event Organizer Riley Getten says they raised more money than they could have imagined.

"We've raised over $7,900 and we are floored by the amount, it was fantastic."

More than 500 people came down to the Penticton Lakeside Resort where they were greeted by organizations such as Critter Aid, and FortisBC, the Penticton Vees washed car windows and Penticton Mayor Dan Ashton was there to lend a hand.

Getten says they gave away just over 550 breakfast bags in two hours as people drove, biked and walked their way down to the Lakeside Resort.

The total number raised in two hours was $7,928.77.

Getten says the United Way is grateful for the tremendous support from the community and looks forward to next year's event.
